Common questions
GOEIC is the General Organization for Export and Import Control, the Egyptian authority that inspects and registers regulated imports. Products such as electronics, toys, and machinery need a certificate of conformity from a GOEIC-approved testing lab, and certain product categories require the foreign factory itself to be registered with GOEIC before its goods can enter Egypt. Shipping without the right GOEIC paperwork is a leading cause of cargo being held at Egyptian ports.
ACI (Advance Cargo Information) is Egypt's mandatory pre-arrival declaration system, filed electronically through the CargoX platform. The importer registers the shipment and its documents before the cargo departs the origin country, and the shipment receives an ACID number that must appear on the shipping documents. Cargo arriving without a valid ACID number faces rejection or heavy delays, so XGT files ACI as a standard step before every Egyptian import sails.
A non-circumvention agreement is a contract that stops one party from bypassing the other to deal directly with a contact they were introduced to, for example an importer going around an agent straight to the factory. In sourcing and trade intermediation these agreements protect the party that created the relationship. XGT works transparently with named factories precisely so clients do not need to fear hidden middlemen layers.
